1. X in Crisis (original title: 위기의 X /wigieui X/)
This new comedy Kdrama tells a story of the ups and downs of an elite guy, which all starts with stock investment. Yoon Bo-woo (Kwon Sang-woo) graduated from a prestigious university. He dreamed big for his life but he is now a regular office worker. One day, he underestimates the stock investments and ends up losing a large amount of money. From there, his life starts going downhill including not only losing his job but also his hair.
Lim Se-mi plays Bo-woo’s wife. She wants to be a successful web-novelist. She roots for her husband with positive energy, but sometimes can’t help getting angry to him. Another main character, Heo Joon (Sung Dong-il) is a physician in the neighborhood. He is a “cheundaerae,” who seems indifferent but cares for others with a big heart.
X In Crisis is based on the South Korean essay, “아재니까 아프다 /ajaenikka apeuda/.” Wavve will release this comedy on September 2, 2022.
2. Little Women (original title: 작은 아씨들 /jakeun assideul/)
Little Women follows the story of three sisters who grew up in poverty but are close to each other. Later in the story, they get involved in a case related to Korea’s richest family and try to stand firm against them. This Kdrama is loosely based on the globally famous novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott.
The heroin of Goblin, Kim Go-eun, plays Oh In-joo, the eldest sister of three. Because of the experience of extreme financial hardship during her childhood, she becomes to believe that money is the most important to protect herself and her family. Her only dream is simply to live an ordinary life without worrying about money.
Oh In-kyung (Nam Ji-hyun) is the second sister. She is a reporter and she believes in living a righteous life. As she starts investigating a mysterious case, she gets involved in an unexpected truth.
Oh In-hye (Park Ji-hu) is the youngest one. She has a natural talent for painting and gets admitted to a prestigious art school despite her family’s hard financial situation. She feels overwhelmed by her sisters’ care and protection.
Little Women will premiere on tvN on September 3, 2022. It will also be available on Netflix in selected regions.
3. The Law Cafe (original title: 법대로 사랑하라 /beopdaero saranghara/)
The Law Cafe is a romantic Kdrama with entertaining legal episodes. This Korean drama is based on a web novel with the same Korean title.
Kim Jung-ho (Lee Seung-gi) is a former prosecutor. To his colleagues, he was known as a “monster genius.” He had to leave his job because of his father’s scandal. Now he makes a living renting a space in the building he owns while he lives on the rooftop of the building.
Kim Yoo-ri (Lee Se-young) is a friend of Jung-ho. She is beautiful, smart, and wacky. And, she believes in doing the right thing. She has unpleasant experiences with guys so she has decided to stay single forever. She is a lawyer and worked for a big law firm. But she quits her job and opens “Law Cafe” in Jung-ho’s building. At the cafe, she wants to serve the community with a cup of Java and a piece of legal advice.
The Law Cafe will premiere on KBS2 on September 5, 2022.
4. Once Upon a Small Town (original title: 어쩌다 전원일기 /eojjeoda jeonwonilgi/)
Once Upon a Small Town is a new romantic comedy Kdrama based on a web novel.
Han Ji-yool (Choo Yeong-woo) is a veterinarian in Seoul but has to come to work in Heedong Village, a rural town, against his will. His grandfather orders (not asks) him to take care of his animal clinic while he is out for traveling Europe.
While he is working in Heedong Village, he meets An Ja-young (Park Soo-young, Joy of Red Velvet), Police Officer in town. She is the insider of the town and she is the one everyone in the town relies on to solve any issues. While Ji-yool tries to escape from Heedong Village, his interest in Ja-young grows and so does the triangle relationship involving Lee Sang-hyeon (Baek Seong-cheol), a young farmer in town.
On September 5, 2022, the first episode will be released on KakaoTV. It will also be available for streaming in some regions on Netflix.
5. Narco-Saints (original title: 수리남 /Surinam/)
Narco-Saints is a Korean criminal drama series based on a true story of a drug dealer, Jo Bong-haeng. The new Kdarma series features a full list of top-class Korean actors including Ha Jung-woo, Hwang Jung-min, and Park Hae-soo.
Kang In-gu (Ha Jung-woo) was an ordinary Korean businessman in the South American country of Suriname until he encounters the life-threatening mission to cooperate with the Korean NIS to capture a Korean drug dealer Jeon Yo-hwan (Hwang Jung-min).
This Korean crime thriller will air on September 9, 2022, on Netflix.
6. Mental Coach Jegal (original title: 멘탈코치 제갈길 /mental coach jegal gil/)
Mental Coach Jegal is a new Korean sports drama. It is a story about how a former Taekwondo athlete helps young players who run into a downswing in their career paths.
Jegal Gil (Jung Woo) is a former Taekwondo player on the national team but he is expelled because of an unprecedented accident. He overcomes his past and resumes his second round in his sports career as a mental coach.
He works with the athletes, including Cha Ga-eul (Lee Yoo-mi), a short-track speed skater. She is a gold medalist but currently in a slump. And yet, she doesn’t want to share her feelings with others.
Ku Tae-man (Kwon Yool) is the director of the human rights center of the athletic association and an arch enemy of Coach Jegal. Park Seung-ha (Park Se-young) is a counselor at the athlete’s village and she works with Jegal Gil.
This new Kdrama premieres on September 12, 2022 on tvN. TVING and Rakuten VIKI will stream the drama as well.
7. Blind (original title: 블라인드)
Blind is a new Korean thriller. Ryu Sung-joon (Ok Taec-yeon, 2PM) and Ryu Sung-hoon (Ha Seok-jin) are brothers. Sung-joon is a detective with a high arrest rate and Sung-hoon is an older brother and a judge with a super elite record. Jo Eun-gi (Jung Eun-ji, Apink) is a social worker with a big heart.
They become involved in a serial murder of jury members of a certain case and try to find the truth lying behind. Blind will air on tvN on September 16, 2022. TVING and Netlix will stream the show as well.
8. Love in Contract (original title: 월수금화목토 /wolsugeumhwamokto/)
Love in Contract is an upcoming romantic Kdrama. It is a story of a professional marriage master.
Choi Sang-eun (Park Min-young) offers the service to be a partner for single men, so her clients can keep their lifestyle without much pressure to be married. Her business gets into a stormy situation when she starts feeling for her two clients, Jung Ji-ho (Go Kyung-pyo) and Kang Hae-jin (Kim Jae-young).
Ji-ho is Sang-eun’s longtime client, who uses her service on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. He is a mysterious man. Hae-jin is a new client, who is a rich heir and a popular actor, who is on her list on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Her feelings for them start growing and things get interesting.
This Korean drama will be released on tvN on September 21, 2022.
9. One Dollar Lawyer (original title: 천원짜리 변호사 /cheonwonjjari byeonhosa/)
Namkoong Min is coming back as a lawyer who charges only 1000 KRW (about 1 USD) for his service.
Cheon Ji-hun (Namkoong Min) is an eccentric lawyer. Even though he is one of the best attorneys, he charges only 1,000 won for his work. He fights against the most expensive lawyers and their clients who have money and power and do not hesitate to break the law.
Baek Ma-ri (Kim Ji-eun) works as a prosecutor’s assistant. She is the granddaughter of Baek Hyun-mu (Lee Deok-hwa), who founded the top-class Baek law firm. Life is good for her until she meets Cheon Ji-hun.
The new series is scheduled to premiere on SBS TV on September 23, 2022.
10. The Golden Spoon (original title: 금수저 /geumsujeo/)
The Golden Spoon is a new fantasy Kdrama based on a popular webtoon with the same title.
Lee Seung-cheon (Yook Sung-jae, BtoB) was born into an extremely poor family. He and his siblings live hard lives because of their financial conditions. One day he meets a mysterious street seller and acquires a magic golden spoon that can change his fate. The seller tells him that once he eats three spoons of his wealthy friend’s food with this golden spoon in the friend’s house, the parents of his friend will become his. The twist? He has three chances to change his mind. So how will he use the rest of the chances?
The Golden Spoon will premiere on MBC on September 23, 2022. Disney Plus will stream this Kdrama globally.
