K-Dramas To Watch In October 2022

October 1, 2022 by busanpedia Leave a Comment

1. Cheer Up (original title: 치얼업)

Cheer Up is an upcoming K-drama in October following the lives and romance of college students in a cheering squad. Do Hae-yi (Han Ji-hyun) is a student at Yeonhee University (as a matter of fact, Yeonhee is an old name of Yonsei University). She can’t enjoy her college life because of her financial situation. Hae-yu gives up many things in her life in order to make ends meet. She comforts herself by saying that one can’t do all one want in life.

Hae-yi doesn’t pay attention to any campus activity, but she ends up joining a cheering squad, Teyia, for money. In the cheering squad, she experiences the other side of campus life and meets various people including Park Jung-woo (Bae In-hyuk) and Jin Sun-ho (Kim Hyun-jin). And, as you may guess, a campus romance happens.

The first episode of Cheer Up will be aired on SBS TV on October 3, 2022.

2. Bad Prosecutor (original title: 진검승부 /jingeomseungbu/)

Bad Prosecutor is a new Korean drama about a prosecutor who stands on the side of the underdogs with eccentric methods. Do Kyung-soo, D.O. of Exo, plays Jin Jung, a crazy and yet righteous prosecutor.

Bad Prosecutor will premiere on KBS 2 on October 5, 2022.

3. Love That Will Freeze to Death (original title: 얼어죽을 연애따위 /eoleojukeul yeonaettawi/)

Lee Da-hee and Choi Si-won of Super Jonior will star in an upcoming Korean romantic comedy, Love That Will Freeze to Death.

The series seems to follow the quite popular format of Korean ro-com; a couple of longtime male and female friends who have not felt any feelings for each other run into an unexpected event. After that, they start seeing each other differently.

Choi Si-won plays Park Jae-hoon, a plastic surgeon who seems to be a perfect boyfriend to others except for Goo Yeo-reum (Lee Da-hee). Yeo-reum is a PD on entertainment shows and neither work nor love life is working for her. Yeo-reum is so desperate to make her reality show successful that she asks Jae-hoon to be on her show. Now things get changed.

ENA will air Love That Will Freeze To Death on October 5, 2022.

4. Glitch (original title: 글리치)

Glitch is a new Korean comic sci-fi thriller. Jeon Yeo-bin from Vincenzo plays Hong Ji-hyo, whose boyfriend disappears in the blink of an eye. While she traces his track to find out his whereabouts, she encounters unexpected mysteries. During her search, Heo Bo-ra (Nana) and other members of a UFO club help Ji-hyo reveal the truth.

The creative team behind the previous hit Korean drama on Netflix, Extracurricular, gets together to make this new K-drama series. The complete 10 episodes of the show will be available on Netflix on October 7, 2022.

5. Game of Witches (original title: 마녀의 게임 /manyeoui game/)

Game of Witches is a new coming Korean weekday soap opera. A hitmaker of weekday dramas, Jang Seo-hui stars in this new K-drama.

The story includes a secret of birth, chaebol (Korean conglomerate), revenge, and other usual suspects of weekday dramas. This time the main plot is about a bloody confrontation and revenge from a mother and a daughter whose lives were sacrificed by a great evil.

Korean Network MBC will air Game of Witches on October 11, 2022.

6. Yonder (original title: 욘더)

Yonder is an upcoming Korean sci-fi drama directed by renowned Korean director Lee Joon-ik. His filmography includes King and the Clown, Radio Star, Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet, and The Book of Fish. This is his first Korean drama directing.

The drama is set in the year 2032. Jae-hyun (Shin Ha-kyun) lives in agony after his wife’s death and can’t move on in his life. One day, he receives an email from his late wife, Yi-hu (Han Ji-min). She asks him to come to meet her at a space called “Yonder.” The place is planned and created by the memories of the deceased and the series throw questions about eternal life, death, happiness, and more.

This Korean Sci-Fi will air on October 14, 2022, on TVING. This Kdrama will be available on Paramount+ as well.

7. The Queen’s Umbrella (original title: 슈룹 /shuroop/)

The Queen’s Umbrella is a new periodic and black comedy Korean drama series. The series tells a story of a queen who can’t let her princes lose the fight for the next throne. Somebody calls this new Kdrama Sky Castle of the Joseon Dynasty. Well-said!

Queen Im Hwa-ryeong (Kim Hye-soo) is supposed to be a symbol of grace and dignity, but the sensitive and hot-tempered queen cannot follow the protocol because of her troublemaker princes. She abandons her pride and gives up keeping her face just to protect her sons and the power of the next crown. By the way, the original title, ‘shuroop‘ is a genuine Korean word for an umbrella.

This new Kdrama premieres on October 15, 2022, on tvN.

8. May I Help You? (original title: 일당백집사 /ildangbaekjipsa/)

The new comedy, May I Help You?, is about two people, Butler Kim (Lee Jun-young) and a funeral director, Baek Dong-ju (Lee Hye-ri of Girl’s Day).

Butler Kim works at an errand service company ‘Ildanbaek’ owned by his uncle Vincent (Lee Gyu-han). He serves his clients with almost any job regardless of how small the task is. Baek Dong-ju is a recently-hired funeral director and possesses a special ability to talk to the deceased. Because of this ability, she has to help the dead people’s last wish fulfilled. Otherwise, many bad things happen to her all day. While she helps the dead ones, she gets help from Butler Kim.

This new K-drama is scheduled to premiere on MBC TV on October 19, 2022.

9. Bargain (original title: 몸값 /momgab/)

Bargain is a 6-episode Korean drama series combining crime and natural disasters. It is based on a 2015 short film of the same title, which is a winner at several movie festivals.

No Hyung-soo (Jin Sun-kyu) meets Park Joo-young (Jun Jong-seo) at a motel for an escort service. But, Joo-young is a member of an organ-trading criminal group. He is captured, but an earthquake suddenly hits when the auction for his organs is about to begin. Now, the survival from the natural disaster and each other begins.

TVING will stream this new series on October 28, 2022.
