K-Dramas To Watch In November 2022

1. Curtain Call (original title: 커튼콜: 나무는 서서 죽는다 /curtain call: namuneun seoseo jungneunda/)

Curtain Call follows a man who pretends to be a grandson of a dying hotel owner and the stories of people around them. This new K-drama is one of the most anticipated Korean TV series in the last quarter of 2022 starring top-tier actors and actresses including Kang Ha-neul, Ha Ji-won, Kwon Sang-woo, and Go Doo-shim.

Kang Ha-neul plays Yoo Hae-heon who is a yet-to-be-successful actor. Although he plays only at small local theaters, he is an optimistic person with high self-esteem. One day, an old gentleman asks him to play a grandson for an old woman to fulfill her last dying wish.

The old woman is Ja Geum-soon (Go Doo-shim), who was born in North Korea before the Korean War. While she was escaping from North Korea during wartime, she lost her husband and child. Although she is a very successful businesswoman with a hotel chain, ‘Nakwon,’ she has always wanted to see her family that she lost in North Korea. Se-yeon (Ha Ji-won) is her granddaughter in South Korea and she is currently running the hotel.

Curtain Call will premiere on KBS 2 on October 31, 2022.


2. The Fabulous (original title: 더 패뷸러스)

The upcoming Kdrama, The Fabulous, revolves around four friends, who work, live, struggle, and love in the dynamic and competitive fashion industry in Seoul, South Korea.

Ji Woo-min (Minho of SHINee) is a freelancer retoucher, who improves photographs in the later process. He is an attractive free soul. He seems perfect both in life and work, but he is not passionate about either of them.

Pyo Ji-eun (Chae Soo-bin) is, on the other hand, a passionate and positive person. She finally made it to her dream job, a manager at the agency for a luxury fashion brand. However, it is a survival game to work in this industry.

The complete 8 episodes of The Fabulous will be available on Netflix on November 4, 2022.


3. Behind Every Star (original title: 연예인 매니저로 살아남기 /yeonyein managerro salanamgi/)

Behind Every Star depicts the lives of four talent agents both on professional and personal sides.

Ma Tae-o (Lee Seo-jin) is a director at Method Entertainment, a major talent agency. He is very professional at work and doesn’t mind using tricks for his goal, but he often stumbles in his personal life. Cheon Je-in (Kwak Sun-young) is a veteran agent of a 14-year of experience. She is a great asset to Method Entertainment but doesn’t really get along with Ma Tae-o.

Kim Joong-don (Seo Hyun-woo) is a gentle person and the best friend of Ma Tae-o and So Hyun-joo (Joo Hyun-young) is a rookie manager and she is a troublemaker.

Behind Every Star is adapted from the French TV show, Call My Agent! (Original: Dix pour cent). It will be fun to watch several special appearances of famous actors and actresses.

The first episode of Behind Every Star will be aired on tvN on November 7, 2022. Netflix will stream this Korean drama as well.


4. The First Responders (original title: 소방서 옆 경찰서 /sobangseo yeop gyeongchalseo/)

The First Responders is a new Korean drama telling stories about first responders who risk their own lives for their jobs.

Kim Rae-won plays Jin Ho-gae, a detective who is very talented and passionate about his job but not good at a social life. Bong Do-jin (Son Ho-jun) is a fearless firefighter. He seems indifferent to others, but he is actually nice to people around him and the victims. Song Seol (Gong Seung-yeon) is a paramedic with a big heart.

This upcoming Korean drama is scheduled to premiere on SBS on November 12, 2022.


5. Somebody (original title: 썸바디)

Kim Seom (Kang Hae-rim) is a software developer of the popular dating app “Somebody” and has to get involved in a murder investigation because the app becomes the center of the case. Her friend Ki-eun (Kim Soo-yeon) is a detective and leads the investigation with help from their mutual friend Mok-won (Kim Yong-ji).

While the investigation is going on, a mysterious man, Yoon-o (Kim Young-kwang), an architectural designer, comes close to Seom and her friends. Although he is attractive, he seems mysterious.

You can stream the complete series of Somebody on Nextflix on November 18, 2022.


6. Reborn Rich (original title: 재벌집 막내아들 /jaebeoljip maknaeadeul/)

After the huge success of Vincenzo, Song Joong-ki is back. He will play the role of Yoon Hyun-woo in an upcoming new Korean drama, Reborn Rich. This new K-drama is based on a webnovel of the same Korean title, Jaebeoljip Maknaeadeul meaning the youngest son of a Korean conglomerate.

Yoon Hyun-woo was a loyal employee of Sunyang Group, but he got betrayed and murdered by Jin Do-joon, the youngest son in the owner family of Sunyang Group. Right after his death, Hyun-woo wakes up and realized his soul is reincarnated into the body of Jin Do-joon. He plots to take over the company against the owner’s family out of revenge.

Reborn Rich will premiere on JTBC on November 18, 2022.


7. Weak Hero Class 1 (original title: 약한 영웅 /yakhan yeongung/)

Weak Hero Class 1 is a school action K-drama based on a Naver webtoon with the same Korean title, Yakhan Yeongung. Park Ji-hoon (Wanna One) plays the main character, Yeon Shi-eun.

Yeon Si-eun is a top student at a high school. He lost his best friend due to school bullying and it leads him to a different school life. Si-eun is physically weak but he overcomes his weakness with his smart brain and do-not-care-fairness mind. He calculates all the situations and variants and uses anything in the environment that can help him win. While he is fighting against school violence, he meets new a few good friends.

This new Kdrama was invited to BIFF (Busan International Film Festival). Wavve will release the complete series of 8 episodes on November 18, 2022.


8. Big Bet (original title: 카지노 /casino/)

Big Bet is a story of a man who was once called the king of the casino but hit rock bottom because of a series of unfortunate events. Cha Mu-sik (Choi Min-sik) is a natural-born gambler and has experienced the ups and downs in life due to gambling. Now, he is determined to come back and risks everything including his own life.

The top tier actor Choi Min-sik and the rising star Son Seok-koo join the Disney Plus’ Korean drama directed by Kang Yoon-sung, who directed The Outlaws series.

This Korean crime drama will be released on Disney Plus on November 23, 2022.


9. I Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything (original title: 아무것도 하고 싶지 않아 /amugeotdo hago sipji ana/)

Lee Yeo-reum (Seol Hyun of AOA) has recently experienced the worst part of her life: Her mom died from an accident or she was dumped by her boyfriend. Now she wants to live a completely different life and decides to move to a small village after she quits her job.

In a small town where Yeo-reum moves, Ahn Dae-beom (Im Si-wan) is a librarian at a local library. Once a math prodigy, he has a hard time talking with people. Yeo-reum meets Dae-beom and they get comfortable with each other and they start finding their identities and the meaning of their lives.

Based on the webtoon of the same title, I don’t feel like doing anything will be aired on ENA in November 2022. The exact release date has not been announced yet.
