K-Dramas To Watch In July 2022

July 1, 2022 by busanpedia 2 Comments

1. To X Who Doesn’t Love Me (original title: 나를 사랑하지 않는 X에게 /nareul saranghaji anneun x ege/)

The first new K-drama in this July is “To X Who Doesn’t Love Me.” It is a romantic fantasy K-drama about a girl who finds a notebook with the mysterious power to make anyone fall in love with her for a month if she writes down their names.

Seo Hee-soo (Han Ji-hyo) is a college student who wants to be a lyricist. Because she is a motaesolo (모태솔로 / who has never had a boyfriend or girlfriend in one’s life), her self-esteem is at the bottom. One day, she finds a mysterious lyrics notebook that makes love come true for the writer. Her best friend Jung Shi-ho (Do Young of NCT) is the only one who knows about her mystery notebook and watches her new journey of love. The premiere date of To X Who Doesn’t Love Me is July 14, 2022.

2. Remarriage & Desires (original title: 블랙의 신부 /Black-eui shinboo/)

Remarriage & Desires is a new K-drama series, a satire on the match-making market for the top-class Korean society. Matchmaking company Rex serves the wealthiest individuals. Their clients want to enter this world or maintain their status through marriage or remarriage.

The protagonists of the show, Seo Hye-seung (Kim Hee-seon) and Lee Hyung-Ju (Lee Hyun-wook), sign up with Rex for their own purposes and the show follows the whole complicated soap-opera situation afterward. Remarriage & Desires will premiere on July 15, 2022 on Netflix.

3. New Recruit (original title: 신병 /shinbyeong/)

New Recruit is a new K-drama in July, adapted from the animation of the same name by Jang Bbi Jju. The show follows a newbie soldier who is the son of a high-ranked two-star general, which makes the lives of other soldiers complicated. New Recruit airs on Seezn and Olleh TV on July 22, 2022.

4. Adamas (original title: 아다마스)

This new series of Korean drama is about the story of twin brothers, who have to fight against evil to reveal the truth behind their biological father’s death penalty.

Ha Woo-shin (Ji Sung) and Song Soo-hyun (Ji Sung plays two characters) are twin brothers. Ha Woo-shin is a best-selling mystery novelist and Song Soo-hyun is a prosecutor. Their stepfather was killed 22 years ago when they were children and their biological father was accused of killing him. But, after hearing the story from their father, they found out he was framed and falsely accused. Now, they chase after the truth and they have to fight against huge power. The series is scheduled to premiere on tvN on July 27, 2022.

5. Big Mouth (original title: 빅 마우스)

Park Chang-ho (Lee Jong-suk) is a lawyer with an extremely low chance of winning. He wins only 1 out 10 cases. However, he talks and bluffs a lot so people call him ‘Big Mouth.’ One day, he gets involved in a murder case unintentionally and the case mistakenly leads him to be a genius swindler, called ‘Big Mouse.’ (In Korean, Big Mouth and Big Mouse could sound almost the same.) All this misunderstanding traps him in a life-threatening situation.

Go Mi-ho (Lim Yoon-a of Girl’s Generation) is Park Chang-ho’s wife and she is a nurse. She is beautiful and, at the same time, wise and brave. Mi-ho helped her husband become a lawyer by supporting him financially and mentally. She finds out her husband is framed and fights to clear his name. This noir premieres on MBC on July 29, 2022.

6. Today’s Webtoon (original title: 오늘의 웹툰 /oneuleui webtoon/)

On Ma-eum (Kim Se-jeong) was once a judo athlete. Judo was everything in her life, but an injury ended her career. Now she finds her first job as a webtoon editor. But it’s not easy to adjust to her new job and her new colleagues. The drama follows her struggling, overcoming obstacles, and her growth in life. This Kdrama will air on SBS on July 29, 2022.

The main characters, Kang Do-chang (Son Hyun-joo) and Oh Ji-hyeok (Jang Seung-jo), are returning to season 2, but details of what evil characters they will fight against and how they will solve them are not released yet.
