Nakdong River Canola Flower Festival at Daejeo Ecological Park

Spring in South Korea is beautiful. The whole country becomes a huge flower field for numerous types of flowers, and Busan is not an exception. Among many spring flower festivals in Busan, the Busan Nakdong River Canola Flower Festival (부산 낙동강 유채꽃축제) is definitely one of the most raved-about flower festivals.
Daejeo Ecological Park hosts the Busan Nakdong River Canola Flower Festival every April, which is South Korea’s largest canola festival. The yellow sea of canola flowers over an area of 370,000 square-meter (about 91 acres), which is equivalent to 63 soccer stadiums, attracts a large number of visitors.
The festival entertains visitors with an opening ceremony, music performances, a hanbok dress-up event, a donkey riding event, and many more. Bicycle rentals are also available at the park, so ride a bike along the wave of yellow petals while breathing in the fresh scent of spring.

Nakdong Riverside 30-ri Cherry Blossom Road

Along the Nakdong riverside, another flower wonderland is waiting for you. The Nakdong Riverside is located right along Daejeo Ecological Park, and the tunnel of cherry blossoms are stretching out through the whole riverside bank. To celebrate the full blooming of cherry blossoms, the Nakdong riverside hosts an annual cherry blossom event, Nakdong Riverside 30-ri Cherry Blossom Festival. “30-ri” in the name of the festival means the length of the riverside road, which is about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles).
If you plan well, you can enjoy the canola field and the tunnel of cherry blossoms in one visit. The Nakdong Riverside 30-ri Cherry Blossom Festival usually happens between the end of March and the beginning of April. During the festival, visitors can enjoy music performances, singing contests, drawing contests, and more. The Daejeo area is famous for tomatoes so there are many events and actions related to the Daejoe tomatoes as well. At night, the light turns on along the road and it gives visitors a surreal feel of fairytales.
The riverside road along the bank serves as a jogging route for locals year around. Scroll down to see the pictures of the full blooming of cherry blossoms from previous years.

When To Visit Daejeo Eco Park

Overlapping with sunflowers, the cosmos bring the news that the fall season is around the corner. From mid-September to early November, the wave of Pink Muhly welcomes visitors along the Nakdong Riverside again.
