The area is located on the northeastern coastline of Busan, between Haeundae Beach and Songjeong Beach.
How to Get to Cheongsapo
From Busan Station:
- Take Metro Line 1 to Seomyeon Station
- Transfer to Line 2 and ride to Jangsan Station (장산, 201), and exit through Exit 7.
- From there, transfer to the local bus Haeundae-gu 2, 7, or 10 and get off at the Cheongsapo (청사포) bus stop.
By Taxi:
- Since the distance from Haeundae Beach isn’t far, if you’re traveling in a group, taking a taxi is also a convenient and affordable option.
- About 10 minutes from Haeundae Beach (fare approximately ₩6,000-7,000. It depends on traffic.)
Best Time to Visit
Cheongsapo is beautiful year-round. Spring and autumn are especially nice for pleasant weather and fewer crowds compared to summer.
Overview
Cheongsapo is a small fishing village located in Haeundae-gu, Busan. While Haeundae is known as one of Busan’s most densely developed areas, this small village has managed to preserve its quiet, village-like charm thanks to its location beyond Dalmaji Hill (달맞이고개), nestled along a narrow coastal strip.
Despite its tranquil atmosphere, Cheongsapo is just a short distance from the bustling city, making it home to a vibrant cluster of seafood restaurants, stylish cafes, and trendy eateries. It is also famous for its high-quality seaweed production, along with Gijang-gun.
The village offers one of Busan’s most beautiful sunrise views over the East Sea, attracting many visitors, especially on New Year’s Day, alongside Haeundae Beach and Mipo. The moonrise over Cheongsapo is celebrated as one of the “Eight Scenic Views of Busan.”
Origin of the Name “Cheongsapo” (청사포)
The name “Cheongsapo” comes from a local legend:
Long ago, a devoted couple lived in the village. One day, the husband set out to sea to fish but was caught in a storm and tragically lost at sea.
Unaware of his fate, the wife planted a pine tree by a seaside rock and waited faithfully for his return, even neglecting her own meals. Touched by her devotion, the Dragon King (용왕) sent a blue serpent to escort her to the underwater palace, where she finally reunited with her husband, only to find he could no longer return to the living world.
From this bittersweet story, the village landmarks were named: the “Mangbuseok” (Rock of Waiting for Husband), the “Mangbusong” (Pine Tree of Waiting for Husband), and the village itself, “Cheongsapo.”

What makes this spot particularly special is the red lighthouse standing nearby, creating a striking visual contrast. These twin lighthouses – one red and one white – have become symbolic of Cheongsapo and are frequently featured in Korean travel photography.

Cheongsapo is a popular Busan filming location featured in several Korean dramas and movies, making it a must-visit K-drama travel spot. Notable works filmed here include K-dramas like No Gain No Love (손해보기 싫어서) and Haeundae Lovers (해운대 연인들), as well as Korean films such as Mood of the Day (그날의 분위기) and Pitch High (투혼).

Cheongsapo is conveniently located near several popular Busan attractions. Haeundae Beach, one of Korea’s most famous beaches, is just a short taxi ride away. The scenic Dalmaji Hill with its famous moonrise views, is within walking distance for those who enjoy coastal walks.
For nature enthusiasts, the Haeundae Blueline Park‘s coastal train offers breathtaking ocean views and connects Cheongsapo with Songjeong Beach. If you want to visit Osiria Travel District which is home to many attractions including the iconic Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, built on coastal rocks, It makes for an excellent combined day trip.
