One of the hottest cafes in Gijang, Cafe Coralani, sits near Songjeong Beach. As the name suggests, it showcases coral-inspired designs throughout its interior and architecture. The building won the 2022 Busan International Architecture Festival award, adding to its charm.
This Busan cafe draws attention for its unique , offering not one but two areas to enjoy. You’ll find one staircase on the first floor and another on the rooftop. Relaxing here means sitting on blue cushions, sipping iced coffee, and soaking up the sunny ocean vibes.

Coralani serves a good range of beverages. The variety of desserts is good enough from pastries to cakes. I am not a coffee expert but, in my humble opinion, the taste of coffee is not the best among cafes in Gijang. FYI, my group ordered Americano Dark, Americano Aroma, and Dark decaffeinated.

- Take the Donghae Line train towards Taehwagang Station and disembark at Seosaeng Station (서생/K127). Waveon Coffee opened in 2016. Situated on the coast of the East Sea, this coffee house offers one of the best ocean views not only among cafes in Gijang but all cafes in Busan. On the first floor, it has ample outdoor seating. You can choose to lie down on bean bags or the long benches or sit down under parasols (patio umbrellas) while breathing in the ocean breeze.
Waveon’s indoor space is chic and trendy and each floor has large windows so you don’t need to worry about missing the beautiful ocean view. While both the outdoor seating on the first floor and indoor seating with cool air conditioning are great for sipping your coffee, the rooftop is the place if you want to admire the view of the ocean and Imnang Beach. The one hundred eighty-degree views of fifty shades of blue will make you sound ‘Ah’.
The building of Waveon Coffee itself is an artwork. The building won the Korea Architecture Awards (KAA) in 2018. Thanks to its beauty and awe-inspiring scenery, the cafe has been a filming location for many commercials and promoting clips for Busan and South Korea.
Waveon Coffee serves its guests its own roasted coffee and a variety of desserts. If you really like their coffee, you can order them online as well.
Goseurak (고스락)
Next to the main building, a bungalow-style second building stands. Waveon Coffee owns and operates this space as well.
The second floor features separate rooms where you can enjoy your drinks and the ocean view in a quieter setting, away from bustling crowds. However, you can only use the rooms for up to two hours. The first floor houses a restaurant called Goseurak.

Only 15 confectionery masters hold the official designation from the Korean government, and Lee Heung-yong is one of them. In 2021, he teamed up with local architects to open Cafe Chilam Sagye. As you might expect, this Busan cafe serves top-notch pastries and confectionery.

Among the list of pastries, Sogeumppang (소금빵, salt bread) and Dolmanju (돌만주, the black colored dough with red bean paste inside) are Chilam Sagye’s signature items. The salt bread is so popular that you may need to register first at the kiosk machine to purchase it when the cafe is busy.

Chilam Sagye is a huge place and there are many sections for seating. On one side of the place, you can have an ocean view table. On the other side, you will enjoy your piece of cake while enjoying the garden view. Or, you can go out and sit in the garden.
When I visited Chilam Sagye, the rooftop didn’t seem ready for customers—or maybe it was, but no one was sitting there. Either way, the rooftop area felt open and spacious. Naturally, it’s the perfect spot to take in stunning ocean views.

Throughout the cafe, you will find polar bear sculptures. These are the artwork of sculptor, Byeon Dae-yong. The artist wants to deliver the message of environmental protection by reminding of the possibility of polar bear extinction. Chilam Sagye embraces the message by reducing disposables.

Next to the front yard, you’ll find the Chilam Sagye Art Shop. This small store offers a variety of items, including mugs, aprons, artistic goods, home decor, coffee beans, and more.

Cafe Yoon is a three-story building, with the main seating area located on the second floor.
The rooftop offers breathtaking ocean views, but the seating doesn’t appear particularly comfortable.
There are some outdoor seating as well.
You can see, Coralani, another popular cafe in Gijang, from the rooftop.
Cafe Yoon doesn’t serve brunch dishes, but it offers a selection of pastries. I had Cream Cheese & Red Bean Bread and Crookie (cookies on croissants), and enjoyed them.

Nestled along the oceanfront in Gijang, this hidden cafe offers stunning views of the sea through its large windows, capturing every moment of the glimmering waves.
When I visited, it was too hot to sit outside, but it would be great to sit and sip a cup of java in its front yard.
You can purchase pastries on the spot or visit the next-door bakery, Ordinary Recipe, and bring their dishes to the cafe, too.

There is a Korean word, “뷰맛집 /view-mat-jip/.” It means a place with breathtaking views. Hayden in Gijang, Busan, is a perfect place for this word. Although it wouldn’t be an easy trip to get there on public transportation, this Busan cafe offers views that would make up for the efforts.
Hayden would be one of the largest cafes in Busan. It started with one building, but now it has expanded to two huge buildings. If you are more a mountain-view person, the brand has one more location, Hayden Sincere, near Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, which offers refreshing views of mountain forests.

Located at Bon Davinci Square in Gijang, Cafe de Volt 220 at Osiria has probably one of the largest indoor space among cafes in Gijang, if not in Busan. Cafe de Volt 220 serves coffee that they roast in-house. Also, they bake pastries and bread at the location as well.
In addition, the cafe has added a beer option, collaborating with Busan’s craft brewery, Gorilla Brewing. In addition to coffee, beer, and pastries, they sell plants and small gardening items. You can buy illustrations and other artwork of local artists, too.

Thanks to its huge indoor space, this Busan cafe has a variety of seating options. Each section has not only different chairs and tables but also completely different surroundings. Visitors can sit on British barbershop-style leather chairs while looking at the ocean and sky through huge windows. Or, enjoy the cozy and antique feeling of a music studio with a good smell of java.

The cafe has plenty of outdoor seating as well. Although there are more cafes in Gijang that have better ocean views than Cafe de Volt 220, the location of the cafe is its big advantage. The cafe is close to Lotte Premium Outlets Dong-Busan, IKEA, and Lotte World Adventure Busan. And, it is relatively easier to get to the cafe using public transportation compared to other cafes in Gijang.

The place was once a restaurant and now it was reborn as a chic cafe. Off.o is one of the newest addition to Gijang’s cafe scene: it opened in the spring of 2022. The building lies horizontally along with the coast so it offers beautiful wide ocean views.
It has a good range of pastries. You can order other than coffee such as Jeju matcha latte, crumble ice cream, and a variety of tea. Seating and parking are spacious, but some seatings seem to be more artistic than practical.

This café, smaller than many of Gijang’s larger establishments, focuses on hand-drip coffee. While the dessert and pastry options are limited, it offers a cozy and quiet atmosphere.
In the same building, you’ll find the restaurant 바다 & 장어 (Ocean and Eel), which serves eel dishes. Customers who dine at the restaurant receive a discount coupon for the café.
The rooftop is modestly designed, but it provides a clear and open view of the ocean.

This ‘relatively’ less-known cafe is a great place to enjoy the sunset. Unfortunately, I missed two essential things here: I couldn’t catch the sunset and missed its signature honeycomb ice cream. People say don’t miss them.
The famous architect Yoo Hyunjoon designed the cafe. The cafe has separate and connected buildings, so looking around them is fun.
Things To Do In Gijang-gun
The Gijang area is a rising star among Busan’s top destinations. Among many places in Gijang, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (해동용궁사) is definitely worth visiting. If you love to take pictures, Jukseong Church (죽성성당) is a perfect place for non-stop clicking of your camera or phone.
