‘Bureger In New York’ in Haeundae, Busan

Burger in New York in Busan, South Korea

Busan is famous for its abundance of fresh seafood and hearty dwaejigukbap (돼지국밥 / pork and rice soup), and yet the city offers a variety of international cuisines. Thanks to a recent fad for premium burgers, it has become not too hard to find a good burger joint, and Burger in New York deserves to make the list.

Burger in New York opened in 2003. The restaurant is located right across from Paradise Hotel Busan, one of the upscale hotels in Haeundae. The burger joint has a rusted sign that is hard to miss. Although I visited the burger joint before lunchtime on a weekday, it was already almost packed.

You order and pay at the front, and they will serve the food to your table. In addition to Korean staff, a few international staff members serve here so it would make ordering a bit easier for international visitors.

Menu of Burger In New York

They serve New York Burger, Bacon Cheese Burger, Special Burger, Chef Choice Burger, and Chicago Hotdog. And of course, all combos come with fries and a soft drink.

My wife and I ordered a Double New York Burger, and a Double Bacon Cheese Burger (the first picture above). We are not big eaters (we would never try any Man vs. Food kind of challenge), but we could manage both burgers and fries. The burgers were good, and the atmosphere was quite cozy and inviting. I assume it would be more energetic and upbeat during the weekend evenings with beers. They serve Coke in its signature style bottles, but I would prefer a bit bigger size ones – maybe I am too used to Texan size. It was too small to finish a double patties burger for me. If you are used to a big size of soda cup, you may need to order an additional one.

Parking lot next to the restaurant

If you drive to the restaurant, there is a parking lot right next to the joint, which is Shinhan Bank’s parking area. Be aware, though, that it’s not cheap (2,000 KRW for the first 30 minutes and 1,000 KRW per 10 minutes after that.)

Things To Do In Haeundae

Paradise Hotel in Haeundae, Busan

Thanks to Burger in New York’s location, you can visit anywhere near Haeundae Beach (해운대 해수욕장) on foot. The famous Haeundae Beach is only a 5-minute walk away (about 300 meters or 1000 feet). If you and your companions are interested in the 80-meter (260 feet) underwater tunnel, Sea Life Busan Aquarium is in the neighborhood. Or, if you prefer going high above the sky, Busan X the SKY on the 100th floor at Haeundae LCT should be high enough for you.

For Korean Movie fans, Mipo Port near Haeundae Beach is where the movie ‘Haeundae’ was filmed. Plan your schedule to visit Dongbaek Island (동백섬) or sip a cup of coffee at trendy cafes in Harrydan-gil (해리단길).

If you are willing to budget for upscale cuisines, you can try restaurants at Paradise Hotel Busan right across from Burger in New York. Read more about restaurants at this five-star hotel.

Reviews of Burger in New York

Since the taste, atmosphere and service are all subjective matters and I don’t consider myself as a qualified foodie, my intention is to introduce and show a restaurant, rather than rate them. Check out reviews of ‘Burger in New york’ on the following sites.
